About our Synergy of Sound concerts:
For thousands of years, sound, music and rhythm have been used by indigenous and wisdom traditions for celebration, ceremony, healing and spiritual growth. Synergy of Sound concerts are brought to the community as an offering in the spirit of these traditions. The wisdom of using sound and vibration is timeless and its effectiveness is now being measured through modern scientific studies.
The beauty and power of sound healing is in its ability to reach people on many different levels. Each person experiences the sound in their own way, whether as a beginner finding peace and relaxation or as seasoned seeker being supported in a conscious healing and growth practice.
Our collective intention for Synergy of Sound concerts is to support participants with sound and sacred space to give them the opportunity for transformation, deep healing and shifts in consciousness that can create harmony and balance. As the most efficient carrier of intention, sound will reinforce the intentions of individual participants promoting their own healing as well as healing for the community.
Participants are invited to connect to body, mind and spirit with the support of the harmonic, rhythmic sounds of a variety of ancient and contemporary instruments from around the world including gongs, tingshas, Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, drums, rattles, flutes, voice and more.
Afterwards, time will be given for sharing, questions and integration. We ask participants to bring a yoga mat or blanket to sit or lie comfortably on the floor. Some chairs will be provided for those who cannot be on the floor.
The founder of Synergy of Sound is Lisa Ishwari Murphy, director of Fairhaven Healing Arts. Lisa has spent more than 30 years developing an integrated teaching on sound healing called A Sound Body of Knowledge, combining natural law, transformative sound healing and energy medicine practices as well as including the physical and energetic understanding of the instruments used. Coming from her unique lineage of a direct connection to indigenous streams of consciousness, this sound healing style has a sacred synergy that is authentic, grounded, light and powerful.Paula Lazaroff, Duncan Whittier and Jacquie Fehon are all Energy Medicine and Sound Healing graduates of Fairhaven Healing Arts. They continue to learn in advanced classes and to serve as apprentices in a variety of ways. All three have experienced firsthand the healing and transformative power of Sound.
Paula Lazaroff is owner of Essential Healing Arts, a private practice providing individual sessions combining Somatic Bodywork, Sacred Sound Healing, Energy Medicine, Shamanic Journeying and Craniosacral Therapy, classes on meditation and sound healing, guided sound meditations and community ceremonies. Paula continues to grow and explore her own gifts through co-leading retreats with Lisa Murphy and collaborating with yoga instructors to create healing through yoga and sound. Paula’s deepest spiritual connections are inspired by shamanic journeying, a love of the natural world (especially the ocean), meditation and of course music and sound. Bringing this experiential connection to her passions for the human body, mind and spirit, science and dance has enlivened every aspect of her work and life.
Duncan Whittier has a private practice offering individual sessions combining Transformational Bodywork, Sacred Sound and Energy Medicine. Duncan also offers group sessions utilizing a rare 21 inch Jambati Tibetan singing bowl to assist individuals with grounding and healing and introducing them to the power of sound. His ongoing apprenticeship under Lisa Ishwari Murphy and Fairhaven Healing Arts serves as a means to facilitate the awakenings and transformations of her students as well as his own spiritual growth. Duncan’s unique connection to Ocean and Nature has been cultivated by over ten years of working with Dolphins and Whales, in addition to a childhood spent sailing, a degree in Marine Science, kayaking, windsurfing and hiking. An ancestral lineage deeply tied to Ocean serves to guide and inspire his life’s journey.
Love of nature is what connects the many threads of Jacquie Fehon’s life journey. This love became an early vocation in archeology and conservation and has since evolved into a passion for organic gardening of flowers, food and healing herbs. Jacquie began playing music when she was nine, but became truly inspired for the first time when she heard Irish music. Music that is not about performance but serves to bring the community together, gets people dancing, expresses their joy and arises organically from the land where they live. Since working with Fairhaven Healing Arts, Jacquie has experienced her own personal healing from sound. With Lisa’s guidance, she learned that music could be a part of sound healing, and that she could play and receive music from a heart-centered and connected place. Inspired to serve from the heart, Jacquie is part of the Fairhaven Healing Arts ministry and graciously volunteers her time.
