I am a licensed massage therapist and have been practicing somatic bodywork for than 20 years.
I hold the deep belief that conscious touch can transform by bringing awareness and support to the body, mind and spirit.
Touch can relieve pain, calm the nervous system, release stuck emotions and create overall balance. Being in balance is the most beneficial state for healing to occur.
Whether you are looking for bodywork to alleviate a tight or injured muscle, for stress reduction or to support your personal growth process, I believe you can find the comfort, relief or healing you seek in the healing yurt.
Energy-Based Body Work
Energy based bodywork provides a more holistic approach to body work. It includes working with the subtle energy field that surround and penetrate the physical body as well as traditional hands-on methods. A session may include Swedish Massage along with energy healing techniques such as Reiki and Cranial Sacral Therapy.
Energy medicine techniques are derived from research on the human energy field as well as various indigenous techniques and are woven together with traditional and deep tissue massage to address your specific needs and intentions. You can learn more about energy medicine here.
Sound Healing is an ancient energy healing method. It uses the inherent high vibration of instruments, voice and mantra** to invite healing to happen. The vibrations of sound are heard not only through our ears but in every cell of our bodies. Sound is powerful and effective because it can cut through our natural resistance to change.
With a higher vibration, dense or chaotic energies held in our tissues or energy fields can rise up and return to their natural rhythm. This is called entrainment and it puts our body, mind and spirit back ‘in tune’. Being ‘in tune’ strengthens life force energy creating more clarity, vitality and harmony.
**What is mantra?
“A mantra is a powerful word or phrase that may or may not have meaning in the same way as a sentence. Mantras are single or strung together syllables…’ and ‘… energy based sounds. The Indian metaphysical tradition explains that the body is composed of the combination of five elements and the first of them is sound. Studies in sound symbolism suggest that vocal sounds have meaning whether we are aware of it or not. And certainly there can be multiple layers of symbolism associated with each sound. So even, if we do not understand them, mantras are not meaningless; no vocal utterance is entirely without meaning” ~via ILoveIndia.com
Swedish Massage consists of long flowing strokes, kneading and rhythmic strokes designed to increase circulation throughout the body. Better circulation pushes toxins out of tight muscles and brings healing nutrients to all the cells in the body.
Swedish Massage can help heal muscle tissue, decrease muscle and joint soreness and inflammation and improve the bodies ability to fight off disease.
